Artist Statement

I am captivated by portraiture and its ability to reveal a person’s unique identity and personality. My work is a dialogue between myself and my subjects, narrating their stories and celebrating their individuality. Through my paintings, I aim to spark conversations about beauty, meaning, and the ways blackness inhabits and redefines these spaces. By telling these histories, I seek to honor and celebrate the connection between Black Americans and the richness of normalcy in everyday life.
